The KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) Yojana is a government scheme in the state of Odisha in India, which aims to provide financial assistance and support to small and marginal farmers, landless agricultural laborers, and small and marginal fishermen in the state. The scheme was launched in 2018 by the Government of Odisha with the goal of addressing the issue of agrarian distress and improving the lives and incomes of farmers and fishermen in the state.
Under the KALIA Yojana, eligible beneficiaries receive direct cash transfers to their bank accounts, which can be used to meet their household expenses, invest in farm inputs, or save for the future. The scheme also provides assistance for the purchase of seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs, as well as insurance coverage for crops, livestock, and other assets.
To be eligible for the KALIA Yojana, beneficiaries must be small and marginal farmers, landless agricultural laborers, or small and marginal fishermen, and must be registered with the scheme through their respective panchayats (local governing bodies). The scheme is implemented on a voluntary basis, and beneficiaries can opt out if they wish.
The KALIA Yojana is an important initiative by the Government of Odisha to address the economic challenges faced by small and marginal farmers, landless agricultural laborers, and small and marginal fishermen in the state, and to improve their standard of living.
